PARISTOPHER

Paris´topher’s sets are Tech-House, Progressive and Electro, enriched by his rare record collection.

Born in July ´68 on the French Riviera, ´topher bathed in music from a young age, as his two grandfathers were both musicians. At age 10, disco music invaded his radio waves, and after seeing Saturday Night Fever, he put five spot lights and a disco ball in his bedroom to make it look like a discotheque. Inspired by Earth Wind & Fire, Patrick Hernandez, and Sylvester, he got himself a mixer and (too young to go to clubs), kept abreast of the scene via Italian broadcasts (Rete 105).

Other influences of the time were from emerging synthetic pop artists: Depeche Mode, Visage, Soft Cell, Yello, Kraftwerk, Vangelis. In the early 80’s, trips to UK uncovered the sound universe of Pink Floyd and Peter Gabriel. Concurrently from USA side, he classed Giorgio Moroder, John Carpenter, Prince, The Sugarhill Gang and The Grand Master Flash into his ´must mix´ music department. 1983, with Herbie Hancock’s “Rock It”, Paris´topher discovers Break-dance and Electro, and loves to fuse Funk and Dance music.

In 1988, Paris´topher loves EBM, and discovers house music in Camden Palace parties. Acid house parties spread throughout France, and ´topher hits Pyramid and Limelight parties (Nice and Cannes) and Rave parties in Paris. By 1992, he moved to Paris, he discovers Rave Parties with after parties at the Palace (Kit Kat) and his preference for techno music shop. He has turned toward Acid Trance, Trancecore, Progressive and Psychedelic Trance since.

After many years with open ears and pleasure playing to friend´s parties, DJ Ricky invited Paris´topher as a guest in his broadcast on Paris´ famous radio station Radio FG (Le Manège Enchanté) for two live sets to showcase his unique perspective delivery of Psychedelic & Progressive Trance.

He becomes resident at the Gobelet d’Argent in 1997 (Paris), where he’s named DJ Lium (like helium) for his sets that lift you up. He mixes for the Techno Parade and in the clubs around the city. In parallel, he’s making soundtracks for the shows of the singer Judy Cehm.

By 1998, he was resident of House and Techno parties at Le Blue Eyes (Dreux) and mixed with DJ Roussia in Toulouse and in Parisians happenings and music festivals for 3 years, including Ile aux Cygnes and Tino Rossi Gardens (with Joti Sidhu, X Dream, Mike de Juno Reactor, Hilight Tribe, Dino Psaras), school of landscape gardeners annual party (Versailles) and played the first part of Nina Hagen’s live at Studio 287.

He kept making soundtracks and created 3 techno remixes of Beethoven’s opera for the “Théâtre de la comédie de Béthune“ (Fantasy about Don Juan by Molière and Milosz). He also remixed Brigitte Bardot “La Madrague” for the fashion show of the swimsuit label at Paris hotspot Les Bains Douches.

For Utram he mixed at their private parties and in the Salle Méditerranée at the Carlton Hotel (Cannes Film Festival) with quadraphonic sound. He also accompanied the video performance of Lavomatic at the Glazart.

In 2001, he shifted away from trance and changed his DJ name to Paris’Topher. His music and experience led him to play in several private parties for Utram (with Bettie Page, Laurent Ho, Radium) and BPM4 parties (Marseille 2002/2003) with Bruce Le Koala, Stephane d’Elisium, Miss Anacor, and also at Workshop after party (Bruxelles) delivering Progressive House.

In 2003, Paris met leading Parisian DJ Nicolas Nucci, when invited to mix at Friday Party (Paris), and was subsequently invited to make guest appearances at Nucci´s Drive party and after at his famous event Progress! Regularly (2004-2007).

Now he’s resident at Naughty (Brussels) where he often plays with Mike Kelly, Jack Chang, Thomas William, Antoine 909, and he also plays regularly at Beardrop (Paris), Le Klub (Nice) and various parties at Bains-Douches (Paris), SIGL, Maximale, Splash, la Boum à Nucci.

Always in harmony with his public, he shares his good vibrations along his pumping sets full of surprises.
